  • Karla Arriola

    Summer 2023 Intern

    Karla is a rising junior at UC Berkeley studying Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations with a minor in Public Policy. As a first generation college student she is passionate about giving back to underserved communities knowing the various obstacles that they have to overcome. After college, Karla plans to attend law school to pursue a career with a focus on either criminal law or immigration law. In her free time, Karla enjoys nature walks, concerts, and spontaneous trips around the Bay Area.

  • Qiaoying Chen

    Summer 2023 Intern

    Qiaoying is a rising junior at Brown University studying sociocultural anthropology and English, with interests in law, community-building, and activism. She is motivated by her first generation, immigrant background to do direct advocacy work and provide relief from systemic prejudice. Drawing from her experiences in activist circles in the Bay Area and Providence, Qiaoying seeks to better understand, question, and challenge unequal societal frameworks in immigration and beyond. After college, Qiaoying hopes to pursue law as a means to give back to her community. In her free time, you can find Qiaoying browsing bookstores or on a run.

  • Elizabette Galan

    Fall 2022-Spring 2023 Intern

    Elizabette is a junior at San Francisco State University studying political science and criminal justice. She has worked as a home health aide assisting geriatric patients. As a first generation Latinx American from a mixed status family, Liz hopes to attend law school and pursue a career specializing in immigration law.

  • Ana Torres

    Dream SF 2022-2023 Fellow

    Ana graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science specializing in international relations and a minor in Human Rights. She is currently a DreamSF Fellow at Jubilee. Ana’s prior nonprofit experience inspires her passion for working with underrepresented immigrant communities. In her free time, Ana enjoys reading, hiking, trying new vegetarian restaurants, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog.

  • Rachel Velez

    Spring-Summer 2022 Intern

    Rachel is a rising senior at San Jose State University studying Political Science with a minor in Spanish. She is a first-generation college student and works at the YMCA of Silicon Valley as an After School Leader at Rocketship Academy Si Se Puede in East San Jose, encouraging students to become academically and socially responsible. After college, Rachel hopes to work as a paralegal or attend law school to continue her work of uplifting marginalized communities through immigration or family law. In her free time, Rachel enjoys going to concerts, traveling, and upcycling second-hand clothes.

  • Vivien Zhang

    Summer 2022 Intern

    Vivien (she/her) is a rising fourth-year at UC Berkeley studying Political Science and Asian American/Asian Diaspora Studies. As a first-generation student from a working class immigrant family, she is passionate about fighting for low-income, minority groups through outreach, education more specifically, advocating for AAPI immigrant rights. In the future, Vivien hopes to continue to address and mend the deep structural inequalities that disproportionately affect historically marginalized communities by pursuing law and becoming a public interest immigration lawyer. Vivien enjoys coming of age movies and philosophical podcasts.

    Dream SF 2021-2022 Fellow

    Lily is a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, where she received a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish Linguistics, with an Education minor. She is currently interning at Jubilee as part of the DreamSF Fellowship, a leadership and professional development program for immigrant youth. Her past involvement in educational non-profits motivated her to pursue a career that aims to provide better quality services and resources to her disadvantaged Chinese and Spanish immigrant community.   • Monica Lee

    Summer 2021 Intern

    Monica Lee is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying Political Science and Society & Environment with plans of pursuing a career in law. Having grown up in Taiwan, Monica’s bilingual skills in English and Mandarin Chinese plus her understanding of local culture and history will be advantages to serve as the bridge between Asia and the United States. Monica’s previous internship experience at the Center for Health, Environment, and Justice inspired her to help others achieve equality and justice.

  • Jazmin Diaz

    Summer 2021 Intern

    Jazmin Diaz is a rising senior at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Legal Studies and Social Welfare, and minoring in Human Rights. After undergrad, Jazmin hopes to stay in California to attend law school and eventually pursue a career in immigration law or something related to civil rights. She currently works for UC Berkeley’s Educational Opportunity Program as an Intake Student Staff where she connects students from underrepresented backgrounds to resources related to academic planning.

  • Lavie Lee

    Fall 2020-Spring 2021 Intern

    Lavie is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying Political Science and Sociology. As a second-generation Chinese-American, Lavie is passionate about uplifting immigrants and communities of color through legal support and advocacy. She has previous experience as a law clerk at Girardi & Keese and is conducting research with a Berkeley professor on racial and social issues facing Asian Americans today. Lavie hopes to pursue a career in law and public policy to address issues facing marginalized communities at a legislative level.

  • Maya Lu

    Summer 2020 Intern

    Maya is a junior at the University of California, San Diego studying Political Science and Data Science. While studying abroad in Thailand, she learned of the marginalization of migrants through an internship at an NGO fighting human trafficking in Asia. Since then, she has been volunteering as a tutor for refugee youth and is conducting research with her professor at the U.S. Immigration Policy Center. She hopes to utilize the intersection of Political Science and Data Science to advocate for the protection of migrants.

  • Sophia Wong

    Summer 2020 Intern

    Sophia is a senior at Baylor University studying Anthropology and minoring in Spanish. She was born and raised in San Francisco and attended public schools. Her time growing up in Spanish immersion programs and in the San Francisco’s Excelsior neighborhood made immigration issues visible to her at a young age. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work with asylum seekers and trafficking survivors at the Texas border with the Interfaith Welcome Coalition, as well as with other organizations in Guatemala and Colombia.
