Standing With Unshakable Hope
Dear Friends,
We are so grateful for your support during these dark times. Thank you for helping us raise over $72,000 with our end-of-the-year matching campaign! The generosity of our community of supporters never ceases to amaze us.
Since November, our team has been responding to the flurry of calls from undocumented immigrants who are confused and afraid for their futures. This past week we witnessed the beginnings of a tumultuous wave of executive actions that threaten the well-being of our immigrant communities. Perhaps your response was like mine, vacillating between outrage and grief. Or even numbness. Our team is considering the implications of each policy change to help our clients navigate this new immigration terrain. We are continuing to collaborate with our community partners to organize immigration workshops. Moreover, our friends from faith communities are reaching out with questions like: What does solidarity with undocumented immigrants in our communities look like? How do we speak and act collectively on their behalf? How do we practice nonviolent civil disobedience? I am grateful for these questions and the conversations they have inspired. Please contact us if these questions stir your curiosity or if you have immigrant friends or family members in the Bay Area who need a legal consultation.
Starting February 3rd, I will be stepping away from Jubilee for a 2-month sabbatical. I hope to slow down, rest and be restored. I will return on April 8th. Thank you again for joining us and standing with our immigrant clients as we embark on our tenth year. More details to come about our 10-year celebration in September!
