Like for many of you, the election results and the disturbing implications of yet another Trump presidency have felt painful and overwhelming. When people ask me what I think this means for Jubilee and the immigrants we serve, I tell them plainly, “It’ll be bad, even more cruel than the first time.
Waiting With Hope
Waiting. Most of us are not so good at it. Next week, we will wait for the results of our tumultuous election. Who is elected President will significantly impact how we advocate for our immigrant clients at Jubilee.
Liminal Space
As we prepare to gather with family in the coming days, I think of our many clients who are unable to be with their loved ones. Families separated by borders and violence.
Advent: Look for the dawn while it’s still dark

A new grant to help unaccompanied children and youth
In the past decade, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of young people arriving at our southern border in desperate circumstances. In 2022, more than 130,000 children and youth traveled alone to the U.S., seeking refuge from violence and poverty. This number has tripled since 2017.

Family from Honduras sought refuge in the U.S.
Evelyn was one of the few whose trial went forward, giving her the opportunity to tell her story before an immigration judge. She courageously testified to terrifying persecution in Honduras. Evelyn had fled her partner, a former military soldier and current law enforcement officer in Honduras, after years of abuse and torment.

Over 1800 individuals served
Last two years, we’ve served over 1800 individuals. Most of our clients have incomes at or below 250% of the federal poverty guidelines ($66,250 for a family of 4).
