Liminal Space

As we prepare to gather with family in the coming days, I think of our many clients who are unable to be with their loved ones. Families separated by borders and violence. Migrants who left behind home and loved ones to seek refuge and a new future. Like Shimin* and his 5-year-old daughter who traveled by air, land and foot through multiple countries to escape China. Only to be confronted by a dehumanizing U.S. immigration system. Then there’s Lupe,* who just received her green card. She will return to her home country this week to see her family for the first time in 23 years.

Dark and light. Joy mixed with grief. In this liminal space, Jubilee stands with immigrants and refugees.
