Why I Chose Jubilee

I joined the Jubilee team over two years ago. I was especially drawn to Jubilee’s articulation of core values which center on our shared humanity, community, and the importance of relationship-building as we engage in this work and contribute, in some small way, to bringing about a new, more just world. 

For those of us immersed in the world of immigration law, the last several years have been especially difficult, particularly when dramatic policy changes and administrative decisions seemed to close off our clients’ options overnight. Even when things seemed particularly bleak, my connections with clients have sustained me in this work. It has been particularly meaningful for me to hold space for people as they share their experiences – often for the first time – and accompany them through a legal process. I strive to provide compassion and support to clients as we navigate a system that is all too frequently dehumanizing and disempowering. I am grateful to be able to continue this work alongside the other amazing Jubilee advocates
